I'm generally more into sci-fi than fantasy, and I put vampires, werewolves and demons into that latter category - however this excellent first novel in the Les Courbeaux: The French Vampire Legend series immediately caught my attention. Thrown headlong into this frightening world, she seeks to learn the truth about herself and is forced to trust her own instincts rather than take anything at face value. The Key to Erebus by Emma V Leech caught me by surprise. Growing stronger with each entry Blaise is just pages away from a new life. Her strange and powerful grandmother? Handsome shifter Felix? Or perhaps a powerful vampire whose first instinct is to kill her? He compels all who touch the book to write their darkest and most powerful emotions.
